Hanaeleh rescued Hope and Grace from a neglect situation earlier this year, and spent several months rehabilitating them. We were so happy that just a few months ago, they ended up finding a wonderful new home with an amazing couple! They were in an idyllic setting in Topanga Canyon and lived in a paddock with a gelding who immediately fell in love with Grace.
Unfortunately, just a few weeks after we took them up to their new home, the fires whipped through the mountains near their home. Hope and Grace had to be evacuated- their owners drove out the morning of the fire, and they spent all day and night on the beach, waiting until trailers could be brought in. It was close to 2am before they could leave. They were evacuated to the Humane Society in Ojai, then to a friend’s house in Carlsbad, where they are currently doing well.
We are so happy that Hope and Grace are with such wonderful people who care so much about their well being. We sometimes don’t know if the new owners are as passionate about the horses as we are, but we have no doubt about the love they have about Hope and Grace. As they told us, “We love them… they are our children now.”
