Zebedee is an 8 year-old Welsh-cross pony gelding. He’s only 46″ (11.2 hands) tall!
Hanaeleh rescued Zebedee when he lost his house in the Sylmar fire. His owner rescued him from a low-end auction two years ago. Zebedee had been used by charro riders to practice their roping- when his owner rescued him, he had rope burns across his legs, and he is still shy about ropes coming over his head.
NOTE: He would NOT be a good pony for children or a beginner.
Zebedee is a smart and sensitive pony who had a rough start in life and has been brought along with patience and gentleness. His owner trained him to ground drive and long line, but after several months of training, he is still not ready to be hitched as a driving pony. He can carry a saddle and a trail pack, and would be a great companion horse to a gelding (he’s very bossy with mares) or as a trail buddy.
His owner was going to move Zebedee over to a friend’s house to be a companion pony, but the fire in Sylmar burned everything. Right now she is looking for a wonderful home where Zebedee will be happy and safe. The best place for him would be as a companion horse or as a pack horse- he ponies well and leads well. He is even a great hiking buddy as he’ll carry your trail pack! He’s great with other geldings and doesn’t each much- he only eats about a bale of hay a month! He’s very sweet, but is still a little hesitant with new people.
Zebedee does not have an adoption fee, but he does come with a first right-of-refusal. He has gone through a lot, and his owner wants to make sure he doesn’t end up in a bad situation where he can be hurt again.
Zebedee is currently staying at Hanaeleh because of the fires.
