Quite a bit of rescue work happens behind the scenes; answering phone calls, getting information about horses and determining how we can best help in a particular situation. Workday February 3, 2018
We had a wonderful group of people out this last Saturday for our workday! We got a ton accomplished, including about 30 yards of mulch spread to help reduce erosion and dust. The volunteers also cleaned all of the horses' feed dishes, cleared out the garden, cleaned out the hay shed, took down a stall, and even planted a tree! They were a very busy group of people! Update: Zebedee
We are so happy to report that Zebedee is doing wonderfully in his new home! His new owner has renamed him Ash, because her grey Andalusian is named Smokey. His new owner says, "He has found his forever home! He is timid by very sweet and has melded right into my little herd... [he] is just darling. He is SO willing." We are so happy for Zebedee/Ash! Update: Aurora
This past Saturday when one of our volunteers, Misa, took Aurora out to groom her, she noticed that Aurora's left eye looked a little cloudy. We looked at it, and determined it would need a vet examination, just in case it was Uveitis. Uveitis is fairly common in horses, especially older horses with compromised immune systems. It is actually an auto-immune disorder, not outside disease. The body's immune system for some reason actually attacks the healthy tissue of the eye. The result is a … [Read more...]
