Passed July 25, 2009
Sugarbear was trained as a hunter/ jumper, and at 13 was retired to a pasture where she was neglected and starved. Finally, she was forced to break her own tail off when she got it caught in a fence. She was rescued from that situation, then sold, and her new owner eventually donated Sugarbear to Hanaeleh. When Hanaeleh took over Sugarbear’s care, she could barely canter and because of her past neglect, Hanaeleh had to have all of her back teeth removed. Sugarbear found a wonderful owner with Megan B., who entered her into shows and used her in Pony Club lessons. Sugarbear was doing very well, but sadly she was never the same after Gueniviere’s passing. Sadly, Sugarbear colicced due to stress from being bitten by another horse and Megan B. made the difficult decision to allow her to pass to eliminate her pain.
