12/29/22 UPDATE: All of SCTR’s horses have homes! You can read our post here!
The Southern California Thoroughbred Rescue has sadly made the decision to close, which means several of the horses who are currently in their care are in danger. The rescue has found placement for all but five of their horses, and these only have until the end of December. All four of these horses require a sanctuary, and cannot be ridden. If they are not found a safe home by the end of the year, these horses will be euthanized.
These horses are NOT at Hanaeleh- they are still with SCTR. Sadly, there are too many horses who need homes for us to take them all. For more information or to help place these horses, please contact Hanaeleh, as we are working to help facilitate the rescues: elizabeth@hanaeleh.org or (949) 842-7408.
UPDATE: SAVED! Sassy and Belleau Wood
Sassy Lil Belle (1997 Mare) Rescued in 2012, Sassy is good with other horses and good for the farrier. (Sanctuary)
Belleau Wood (1996 Mare) Rescued in 2009, Belleau is good with other horses and good for the farrier. She has been with Sassy for years and if they could stay together, that would be ideal. (Sanctuary)

STILL IN DANGER: Victory
Victory Design (IRE) (2002 Gelding) Rescued from auction in 2008, Victory has an old hip injury which doesn’t trouble him, but does make him unrideable. He is good for the farrier, good with other horses and thrives in a pasture setting. (Sanctuary)
