UPDATE: All of SCTR’s horses have homes! You can read our post here!
Hanaeleh was made aware a few weeks ago that the Southern California Thoroughbred Rescue was closing, and five of their horses were in danger of being put down by the end of the year if homes were not found for them. So far, there have been a few Christmas miracles!
We are so pleased to share that we have placed Sassy and Belle, two bonded mares at SCTR, in a home in Washington state. They will have five acres to roam! All of the paperwork including the Coggins and health certificate has been completed, and they will be picked up this Tuesday, and will be delivered to their new home this Saturday. They have new blankets that Hanaeleh purchased for them, as it’s a lot colder up there! They have shelter and other farm animals to keep them company, and they get to live out the rest of their lives just hanging out together, as it should be.
Another gelding was also able to find a home, but unfortunately, we still haven’t been able to find anyone who can take the final two geldings. If you know of anyone who might be able to take them, both Thor and Victory still need homes. PLEASE SHARE! We need another Christmas miracle to get these two a chance at life!
Hanaeleh has been working with SCTR to help place these horses- please contact us if you are able to take either or both of these two beauties, and we can help facilitate the rescue with SCTR: elizabeth@hanaeleh.org or by phone: (949) 842-7408.
Thor (Registered Name: Kim’s Leading Man)
Kim’s Leading Man (2004 Gelding) Rescued in 2014, with a stable name of Thor, he is an easy keeper, barefoot and good for the farrier. (Sanctuary)
Victory
Victory Design (IRE) (2002 Gelding) Rescued from auction in 2008, Victory has an old hip injury which doesn’t trouble him, but does make him unrideable. He is good for the farrier, good with other horses and thrives in a pasture setting. (Sanctuary)
These horses are NOT at Hanaeleh- they are still with SCTR. Sadly, there are too many horses who need homes for us to take them all. For more information or to help place these horses, please contact Elizabeth: elizabeth@hanaeleh.org or (949) 842-7408 and we will help to facilitate their adoption!
