Update 1/9/22- We received word that Maggie found a home with one of Hanaeleh’s supporters! It sounds like a wonderful fit, and we are so happy that we were able to find her a wonderful new home! Thank you to everyone who helped share Maggie’s post!
Please help Maggie find a home. We received a message from a woman who needs to rehome Maggie, a 9 year-old paint mare. She has had her for eight years, but due to family and financial issues, she can no longer care for Maggie.
Maggie and her dam were rescued from a neglect case eight years ago. She loves attention and can lunge, trailer, and can be ponied off another horse in the arena and out on the trails. She has never colicced and is up to date on hoof trims (she is barefoot), vaccinations and deworming. She stands well for grooming and the farrier. She was rescued as a yearling and was untouched prior to that. She quickly learned that she loves human attention and she is in great health, although she has an intermittent lameness issue that the owner has not been able to diagnose. She is usually sound, and when she does come up lame the owner gives her Equiiox. The intermittent lameness is the reason she has not been started her under saddle. For that reason, her owner is looking for Maggie to find a home as a companion horse- it is possible that Maggie might be able to stay sound enough to be trained to be ridden, but her owner wants to make sure that any new owner is going to care for her, and not try to flip her.
Maggie is very sweet, but she needs an experienced handler- she would not be a good horse for a beginner.
