We were contacted by a woman in San Diego county who helped someone rescue a Hackney pony when his owners moved to Arizona and could not take him. Unfortunately, she is no longer able to care for him, either, and would like to find him a new home.
She is uncertain how old he is, but assumes he is in his mid-20s. He is very sweet and is good with other horses. He especially likes the mares. He will crib without a cribbing collar.
It is uncertain if he is trained to pull a cart. The owner does not think that he has ever been trained to ride.
He is up-to-date on all of his vaccinations, medical and dental care. He is barefoot and has been getting regular farrier care.
This guy really needs a safe place to go- we just took in two horses, and every other rescue is currently full. The owner is saying that she can no longer afford to keep him and is planning on sending him to auction, where he has a very uncertain fate.
This sweet guy is NOT at Hanaeleh. If you are able to help him, please contact the owner Cheryl directly: funwithhorse@yahoo.com or (949) 285-5286.
