8/14/23- We received several inquiries from people who were willing to take this gorgeous boy! The owner believes that he has plenty of good leads and Felix will go to a good home. Thank you to everyone who helped to network him!
Felix is a 21 year-old Palomino Quarter horse, around 16 hands. He’s a big boy, around 1300 pounds. He’s very beautiful and in good weight. He is a very sweet horse, easy to work with on the ground, and is good with the owner’s daughters. Felix was given to the owner with the understanding that he could be ridden.
Unfortunately, Felix has an unidentified lameness issue on his right front that doesn’t cause him pain at liberty, but the owner is concerned that he is too heavy (he is 240 lbs) and doesn’t want to hurt him by riding him. He doesn’t have the money to have the vet out to determine the cause of the lameness. Felix seems to be more comfortable when being ridden by lighter riders. Felix was barefoot, but the owner put shoes on him when he was planning on riding him.
Felix’s previous owner has said she can’t take him back, and Felix’s owner would just like him to go somewhere that he can be a companion or perhaps someone who can determine the cause of his lameness.
Felix is located in San Diego County, CA.
