UPDATE: We were contacted by a woman who has said that she is able to help with Chiquita. Thank you to everyone who helped to network her!
We were contacted by a family who needs help. Their father-in-law passed away, and left behind a 6 year-old bay Andalusian mare. “Chiquita” is not registered, and her sire is unknown (her mother was purchased while in-foal, much to the surprise of the new owner).
Chiquita is not trained to ride. She is halter trained and can be led and brushed and will pick up her feet. She has a history of laminitis, but her feet are VERY long and it is obvious she has not had adequate hoof care for some time and is clearly uncomfortable. She needs corrective trimming. There are no medical records available and it is unknown when she had any vaccinations or dental care. She is truly a rescue in need of help. Unfortunately, we are full, as are other rescues, so we are hoping that someone will have room for her.
Chiquita seems very sweet, and the people in the family say that they can pet her and walk her around. They just don’t know how to take care of her and would rather she go to someone who is experienced.
