Hanaeleh received a message asking for help in rehoming this sweet girl! There is no adoption fee for Mila, but the owner is looking to find her a good home with an experienced individual. Mila is currently at Celestial Farms in Ramona- she is NOT at Hanaeleh. For more information, please contact the owner directly: meganmjohnson9@gmail.com
Mila is a beautiful and sweet nine year-old is a flea bitten gray Thoroughbred and is around 16.1 hands tall. Her owner rescued her from someone who had abandoned her in a field. She has worked with her, teaching her all of the basics, but is just starting to train her to ride. Anyone who would like to adopt her would need to have the experience to teach her how to ride or would need to put her into training.
Mila is barefoot and stands for a farrier. She just had her feet done at the beginning of July. She had her teeth done last year. She has not had her vaccinations yet this year, but the owner said she would have those done before anyone adopted her.
The owner says Mila is more comfortable with an experienced handler. She says that Mila never kicks/bites but she gets scared and head shy and has a lot of energy. Mila has been taught to longe and ground drive, and the owner says that Mila has very good ground manners. She does well with vocal commands when she is relaxed.
Mila overall needs someone who can continue with her training. Her ears are very sensitive and the owner has to unbuckle the bridle to put it on and off so it doesn’t upset her. She does take the bit well and has been ground driven as well. She used to be afraid of the halter but the owner worked with her and now Mila is just fine with putting the halter on and off. She has been tacked up with both English and western tack. They did ride her once- they walked around while on her back with someone on the ground walking with her, but obviously she still needs training.
Mila gets along very well with other horses, is fine with dogs and loves children.
The owner has done a lot of great work with Mila, and she needs someone who can finish her training. Unfortunately her owner is moving in August, so she is trying to find someone with patience, a big heart and with the experience to continue to work with Mila.
