UPDATE: We were contacted by Ruby’s owner- she was able to find a safe place for her horse. Thank you to everyone who helped share her post!
We were contacted by a woman who has been caring for a 16 year-old Quarter horse mare named Ruby. Ruby is very sweet, not spooky, and is great with kids, animals and other horses- her owner says that she is not aggressive at all and is very low on the pecking order. Ruby has issues with laminitis, but does well when on Teff hay.
Ruby was originally rescued in Wyoming, but her owner has her in San Juan Capistrano, CA. Unfortunately, Ruby’s owner is having some short-term financial issues and needs help. Instead of rehoming Ruby, we are hoping that there is someone who might have a stall available for a short time who might be able to help out Ruby and her owner. Ruby’s owner is capable of buying all of Ruby’s feed and can pay for her vet bills, but is just unable to pay the very high cost of board here in Southern California.
