We received a call that a local stable has a 7-8 year-old Thoroughbred gelding who was abandoned by his owner. Apparently she moved and decided it was too expensive to move him, and too much trouble to bother trying to find him a home beforehand. The woman has signed him off to the stable, and they called us to see if we could take him instead of sending him to the auction.
We are going to pick him up on Friday and take him to a safe house that night. At that point we will have some pictures of him. From what we understand, the owner was riding him English and doing some jumping on him. We are assuming that there are no health issues and he is sound, but I will know more on Friday when I pick him up and go through the paperwork. I am hoping to get some more history on him from the previous owner and any trainers as well.
Usually we post after we pick up the horse, but we are hoping to get the word out to someone who might be potentially interested in him. We also could definitely use any donations towards transportation costs for this boy! Our funds are severely tapped, and while I don’t want this poor boy to go to an auction for no reason, we also need to make sure we can afford to feed and care for the ones we do take. Any donation is appreciated- you can go to our website for donation info: www.hanaeleh.org or via Paypal: donate@hanaeleh.com .
We will update the situation and post pictures on Friday!
