=========================================================================================
Sadly we are going to rehome our mare Lexi. She is a 14hh pony type her breed is unknown, as got her from someone who needed to rehome her that had little to no history on her. Lexi is about 19 years. We got her 7 years ago mostly for my daughter (when she was 9 and is now 16yrs).
HEALTH – She has an injury to her RR fetlock area & has been basically laid up for close to 6 months. I don’t know exactly what’s wrong with it because I cannot afford an ultrasound. She had no trauma that I know of. She shows NO signs of lameness and the area does not seem to be hot. She has not been ridden because I would not want to cause further damage not knowing for sure what might be the underlying cause. She is up to date on shots, worming, feet are trimmed (regularly) & teeth were last floated 1.5 years ago. Normally I have front shoes on for trail riding, but since she is not being ridden I had them pulled 2 weeks ago. She has gone barefoot with no issues when not on rocky trails.
COLOR – Lexi is a lovely and unique white & gray pinto mare. She has pink & black skin under her coat. one dark leg & a white (pink) snip on her nose. Has a brand “PJT” on her L hip.
TRAINING – Lexi is a been there done that kind of horse. Knows basics of walk trot canter (does a beautiful very slow lope) back, side pass, neck and direct reins, listens to leg cues, opens and closes gate, goes over items & through water no problem. Rides at night, Norco traffic safe. Ties all day & line ties all night, ties in close quarters without kicking another horse. Picks up all four feet with great ease. lowers head to take a bit also can be ridden in a hackamore. Will ride english, western, bareback, Normally ridden western. Hops right in the trailer.
Does not like crossing OVER the freeway bridge. Does not like clippers, too sensitive for spurs. In fact I just make a kiss sound and she moves right along. Never needed to lunge her before a ride. She was my daughters pony & loves kids, beginners no problem. Not mareish. Very, very quiet. We had taken her to gymkhana shows, neither my daughter nor the horse liked it much, but she still won some ribbons & a trophy. She has been used extensively for trail riding, camping trips, and just playing in the arena with other kids and their ponies. She also did therapeutic riding for a couple months about 5 years ago & did very well. Fine with other farm animals and livestock. Ridden for years in Norco.
TEMPERMENT = 2
Lexi is such a wonderful, quiet, easy, keeper. She deserves the very best. Regretfully I know she needs some things that I can not give her right now. My main concern for her is that she does not go to anyone where she has a chance at being sent to auction and then to by a kill buyer. I,m not OK with a chance she end up in a slaughter house or an abusive situation. I do not have the money to pay board or take care vet bills. I lost my job and at this point our family is trying to pay the mortgage and keep the lights on. This would be an immediate situation for placement. If you can help or have any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.
I only have until FEBRUARY 1st. Please help!
Thank you,
