Update: We received word from the owner and from the president of Far From Perfect Mustang Rescue that all horses are going to go there! The rescue is going to deliver hay to the owner to get her through the end of the month, and then they will coordinate transport. Many thanks to everyone who helped to share these horses! They are all safe!
We received a call from a woman who has been struggling financially for a while now and needs help with her horses. Due to medical reasons, she and her husband are finding it difficult to care for their horses, and she would like to find them safe homes. They are not in immediate danger, but they do need to find homes as soon as possible.
Please note: these horses are NOT at Hanaeleh. We are posting all of the information we were given- we are just trying to help the family find homes for these horses. Please be sure sure this information with whomever you think might be able to help, and please be sure to contact the owner directly with any questions: (760) 553-3694.
Horses Who Need Homes
Brandy and Reo- Both Brandy and Reo were born as wild Mustangs. Brandy is a 14 year-old bay mare, and Reo is a 9 year-old paint gelding. Brandy does not tie but was rideable at some point. Reo had five months of John Lyons training to be able to be caught and worked on the ground. He has not had any other training.
Finway- 10 month old chestnut colt- Finway is very sweet and has a wonderful personality. He has a club foot that the farrier believes will not be a problem as long as it continues to be trimmed correctly.
Savana- Appaloosa/Mustang mare. She is a very calm (a little stubborn, but sweet). The owner dearly loves her and has started ground work with her. She has been saddled but not ridden.
Dot- 29 year-old grey mare. She is an older girl who would need a companion home.
Kevin- 10 year-old paint (Premarin baby). He had eight months of John Lyons training when he was four years old and has been ridden. He can be hard to catch in a large paddock, and is a little head shy.
