I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! We had a great time wishing Molly farewell this Saturday- we wish her the best of luck in college in Montana (and we will definitely call her up in December when it’s about 72 degrees and ask her about the wind chill factor there).
We also had a great crew helping to clean up the trail by our facility! Who knew there were so many prickly things growing in California?
I will send out a short update of the volunteer meeting minutes for those who could not make it under separate cover.
For now, your horsie update:
Apollo- He is beginning to be a big ol’ sweetie, and has settled down nicely under saddle. I’ve been working with him to keep his head down and balance, and he is doing great! He would be a great horse for someone who wanted a big, solid boy!
Annie- She is doing excellent as well! I’ve been riding her down the street and she has been so brave as to even go over water now! She passes by cars and motorcycles and flags and geese and ducks and dogs- you get the drift- without a problem now. And she is still the sweetest!
D’Artagnan- Still a ham, expecting everyone to come by and say hello. Of course, everyone comes by and says hello, so it seems to be working for him.
Gypsy- She has been such a sweetie- I know, you’re surprised to hear it… but maybe it’s just that she likes me better. In any case, she seems to have gotten over being angry with having to carry the saddle again, so now we move on to more riding.
Nevada- He misses his girl, but Bill groomed him and loved on him this week, and he has been surprisingly mellow lately. He still challenges Tamahome in the arena, however, so he still has some spunk there.
Niko- I’ve been using him for lessons and riding him myself more… he is very good and really loves to be ridden- now that the trail is cleared I’ll be able to take him out more often, which will probably make him very happy!
Montana- She got her feet done on Saturday and seems happy. She is still lazy, but enjoys her walks and trail rides. She was also very good in the horse care clinic this weekend.
Rio- He has been doing great and his feet don’t seem to be bothering him anymore. He was a good boy for his lesson on Friday and had a very tiring trail ride on Sunday! Poor boy is out of shape!
Sapphire- She is a sweetheart and prima donna all rolled into one. She has been very good under saddle, and has been good in the arena as well, although she often does not act her age and will charge around like she is a young filly.
Tamahome- He had a great time out on trail this Sunday, and showed it by bucking a half-dozen times (just little ones). And, yes, he looked cute doing it. 🙂
