We were told this morning that this guy has been placed. Thank you everyone! 🙂
——————————————————————————————————————————————————————–
This older gelding (around 20 years?) was rescued by a woman who fosters dogs in Kern County. He was at the animal shelter in Delano, CA. This shelter is not set up for horses, but it was a case of abuse and he needed a safe place to go. Apparently some kids were abusing him. He had several old wounds and rope burns around his legs. She offered to keep him until a rescue could be found.
He is a small bay gelding, maybe Arab cross? He is very kind and not at all skittish. He would probably make a good kids horse. His hooves were trimmed and the farrier says they look good. He seems to be sound as she hasn’t seen any limping.
He is suffering from severe anorexia. Right now he is eating soggy hay cubes and rice bran pellets 3 times a day with some corn oil to try and get weight on him. He is not healthy enough (weight wise) to have a float done right now. He has been dewormed.
The rescuer received a few donations so that she could buy feed and get his feet and teeth done, but she needs to find a rescue or another individual who has the funds to help rehabilitate this boy. Â Unfortunately Hanaeleh is completely full, so we are unable to take him.
