Venus is a little liver chestnut mare who was rescued from a now-defunct "rescue." She had gotten a splinter in her left eye at the rescue, which festered and created a great deal of scar tissue. The people at the rescue didn't bother to treat her eye, so a volunteer offered to foster her and was able to get Venus some veterinary care. Noelle and Venus Become Friends
It's been a few months since we moved Noelle up near Venus, but the girls have quickly become best friends! After a few weeks of being neighbors with Venus, Noelle started yelling for her and getting upset when we took her away from the stall, even though she had her buddy Rio to hang out with. Venus doesn't seem to care much if Noelle leaves, however, and Noelle has no issues when we take her away from her stall and leave Venus alone... we've all had relationships like that. UPDATE: Venus’ Eye (July 2020)
Venus came to us in August, 2018. She had been through a lot in her life before she came to us. She had been purchased at an auction by Hi-Caliber, a now defunct organization. Hi-Caliber had a number of claims of neglect of the horses in their care before it was shut down, as well as volunteers attesting to the fact that the leaders of the organization would shoot horses if they could not adopt them out in a short amount of time. UPDATE: Venus
Venus came to Hanaeleh this summer. She had been picked up at an auction by a "rescue" organization that has since been shut down. At their facility, a splinter was embedded in her eye, which was not discovered until she was fostered out to an individual who was supposed to help train her. The foster realized the eye was infected, but by the time she had the vet out, too much damage and scar tissue had built up in the eye.
