Update: Sapphire is Back!

March 6, 2016 By ezarkos

Sapphire is back at Hanaeleh. Yes, you read that correctly. Last week we drove down to San Diego and picked up Sapphire. Tamahome had to go along for the ride, as Sapphire refuses to load into an empty trailer (she'll get into any trailer as long as another horse is in there, however).  She spent the trailer ride back home making nicker-noises to Tamahome the entire way. Sapphire was adopted out last June to a very loving family down in San Diego. Unfortunately, Sapphire just was not the … [Read more...]

UPDATE: Sapphire’s New Home

June 28, 2015 By ezarkos

Rolling in the shavings

Today we took Sapphire to her forever home in Encinitas, CA.  It was both wonderful and heartbreaking at the same time; we are so very happy for Sapphire and her new family, and we have wanted her to have a special family to love her through the end of her years.  At the same time, Sapphire is a very special horse, and we all grew to love her very much, and will miss her presence at Hanaeleh. We started out this morning taking Sapphire to the arena to say our own personal goodbyes (it doesn't … [Read more...]

Sapphire and Emily

We had a busy time out at the ranch this weekend- the horses all received their strangles vaccinations (we try not to give all of the vaccinations at once) so they are set until next year!  The horses kept sneezing and trying to wipe their noses on us so the vet, Sally W. and Elizabeth all received the strangles innoculation by proxy. Saturday was great- the horses all got out and were exercised.  They are looking quite dashing with their summer coats! … [Read more...]

Sapphire

January 11, 2011 By Hanaeleh

Sapphire 24-year-old Thoroughbred Mare Rescued September 6, 2008 Sapphire is about 16.1 hands.  Sapphire was a previous show horse, and she has been trained both for jumping and dressage. She also does very well on trail, on the street, and was ridden in the Swallow's Day Parade. She has done well in sensory clinics and goes through water and obstacles. Although she is older, she has a lot of energy and has a very floaty gait and beautiful leg extensions.  We have only ridden her … [Read more...]

Help “Spirit” 9 y/o Buckskin Quarter Horse Gelding Find a New Home (Norco CA)

June 17, 2025 By ezarkos

We were contacted by one of our supporters who had rescued a nine year-old buckskin Quarter Horse gelding from auction. He was shut down at first, but she has done quite a bit of work with him on the ground and he is starting to come around and be more sociable. Sadly, Spirit has navicular, and … [Read More...]
