It is with great sadness that we report this past week we had to help Hershey cross the Rainbow Bridge. Hershey was a 27 year-old Appendix (Thoroughbred and Quarter horse cross) who was one of our first rescues. He was a show jumper, but his owner could no longer afford him, and he had some personality *quirks* that made him difficult to work with. Hershey had been in a box stall for much of his life, and except for a few months in a pasture, he was not out with other horses, and he did not have … [Read more...]
UPDATE 2022: Hershey
Hershey is an Appendix (Quarter horse/Thoroughbred cross) gelding. He came back to Hanaeleh a few years ago when his owner was unable to care for him. When we were sent a plea from a woman who was looking for a home for Gabriel, a Friesian-Quarter horse cross, however, we knew we would easily be able to find him a home! And we did quickly find this guy a wonderful new horsie mom up in L.A. Elizabeth was scheduled to pick up Hershey from his … [Read more...]
