He had been abandoned and almost sent to slaughter or auction several times, through no fault of his own. Born March 12, 1989 Rescued November 28, 2006 Adopted December 2, 2006 When Hanaeleh’s members saw Mr. Ed, he was in so much pain that he literally could not move from the front of his stall to the back. After two months of bute therapy and some physical therapy as well, Mr. Ed was sound enough to take to his new home in Petaluma with a woman named Cara who works actively to stop killer buyers from purchasing horses for the purpose of slaughter. Rescued February 17, 2007 Adopted February 18, 2007 Beauty’s owner came to Hanaeleh because she needed to find a home for her arthritic, 26 year-old horse. Beauty is a very sweet horse, but her arthritis kept her from being easily adoptable. Hanaeleh contacted Cara, who had taken Mr. Ed, and she was willing to take Beauty for her mother. Rescued July 11, 2007 Adopted April 26, 2008 Jesse was a Quarter Horse who was purchased at Mike’s Auction by his owner at three years old. The owner was very aggressive with Jesse, and was so abusive that Jesse developed ulcers. Instead of treating these ulcers, the owner left him in his stall, and Jesse would colic regularly.
