Right before the Airport fire and ensuing evacuation, we had another tragedy that hit us: we lost our lovely Friesian, Raven. We have been so overwhelmed with evacuating and then bringing everyone back that we didn't have the time nor the heart to announce her passing. How We Finally Got Ulysses to Load on the Trailer for Home
Here is the story of how we finally got Ulysses home after our harrowing evacuation from the Airport Fire. After 4 attempts with other people’s trailers (and their generous help), the 5th try with our own trailer was the winner. Ulysses arrived home on Saturday 9/21. Fire Evacuation Update: Friday Sept 13th
We are still evacuated and we continue to monitor the fire information. The fire is about 24,000 acres and 8% contained (as of Friday 9/13 afternoon). The weather is definitely cooperating with higher humidity, a marine layer and much cooler temps (78°). As soon as the warning is lifted, we will begin the process of returning to the ranch. Sad News: RIP Quixote
We are so very saddened to report that Quixote passed away early this (Wednesday) morning due to colic. As you may know, we had to evacuate Monday evening due to the Airport Fire here in Trabuco Canyon. Quixote was a bit stressed on Monday evening after we trailered him and Lou Dillon together to safety, but they seemed to settle down and we made sure that they were placed right next to one another once they arrived.
