Failure to Protect America’s “War Horses” Faces Legal Action
(Reno, NV) Legal action has been filed against Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) today in federal district court. The suit makes two claims: Sheldon NWR fails to follow policy to protect horses removed from the range from entering the slaughter pipeline, and Sheldon violates the First Amendment by failing to provide the public meaningful access to horses. Sheldon Wild Horse Roundup Begins
(Denio, NV) On September 9th, the removal of the last of the horses that have called the area of Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge home for at least a century began. Observation was at least 1.5 miles from the trap allowing for no positive identification of individual animals being removed from the range.
