Hanaeleh was recently contacted by a woman who is trying to find a home for her Quarter horse gelding, Rusty. Rusty is NOT at Hanaeleh- he is at a ranch in Castaic. Unfortunately, her financial situation has changed and she is no longer able to pay Rusty’s board, and is looking for help. If you know of anyone who might be able to help, please contact the owner Debbie via e-mail: jrzygirl65@gmail.com or by phone: (818) 454-8866.
Information on Rusty from his owner is below:
I currently pasture board him at a ranch in Castaic, as he could no longer be ridden due to lameness beyond anything faster than a walk (chipped navicular bone was the diagnosis) and as a rescue, he had issues that made him impossible to lease or sell (he’s a sweet boy, but due to his discomfort, he became increasingly intolerant of being ridden and his temperment issues began to resurface). For over a year now he’s been retired, but my financial situation has changed and I can no longer afford to pay his board, and the situation has become desperate.
Rusty is a 25 y/o dun Quarter horse gelding.
Lameness out anything faster than a walk (diagnosed chip in the navicular bone). Otherwise, healthy.
Barefoot, but will need special shoes (see above) if he’s to be rehabilitated and ridden.
Temperament – 5 (a sweetheart, would make a great companion horse, but at this point, probably a 9 under saddle).
Time period – Immediate
