We adopted out Austin this year to a wonderful young woman. Austin had been dumped by his previous owner because he was blind in his left eye. Taylor did not believe that was a deterrant to his being a good horse, however, and worked with him for several months at Hanaeleh before she brought him home. She rides  him out on trail and in the arena, and he is also the companion to another, younger, Quarter horse- but he's able to keep up with the young guy without a problem! Titan was adopted out last year to a wonderful family down in San Diego. We checked in to see how he was doing, and were pleased to hear that he is doing well, and his owner is still in love with him!  She writes: "He is doing awesome. URGENT PIG RESCUE! (Also, Great Pyrenees dogs)- All Need Homes/Donations

We were contacted tonight about a hoarding situation. There were seven Great Pyrenees (dogs), three pigs and two goats who were emaciated and living in filth. Animal Control allowed a dog rescue to take the dogs, but the owner refused to turn over the goats, and instead had them slaughtered that day (they were what was being fed to the dogs). Our beautiful Onyx continues to improve everyday. One of the most satisfying aspects of being in rescue is seeing the horses not only improve physically, but also emotionally and mentally. Onyx came to Hanaeleh literally hundreds of pounds underweight. Because she had Cushings disease that was not being treated, the food she was getting was literally killing her, throwing her cortisol levels over 50 times of what should be normal.
