It is with great sadness that we report that Cindy Lou passed away on Tuesday from a severe colic. Colic is a general term used for any sort of intestinal discomfort. The most common are gas colics, blockages, and twists. Horses cannot vomit or burp, so even a gas colic can be incredibly painful. Noelle’s New Shoes
This past Sunday we had the farrier come out to trim the horses' feet. We keep all of our horses barefoot when it's possible, but sometimes horses need corrective shoes. It is very comforting to know that we have a farrier who can trim both a four-point barefoot trim as well as one who has the knowledge for more difficult and specialized shoes. Sheep Shearing
The sheep were sheared this weekend! It is not as simple as just shaving the sheep as it is with clipping a horse- sheep shearing requires special training and specialized equipment. There are even special shoes that sheep shearers will wear! Baldwin Park, CA: 20 y/o Quarter Horse Needs Home
Parker is a 20 year-old chestnut Quarter horse who needs a home. He is currently at Baldwin Park Animal Shelter- this is the same shelter where we rescued Lou Dillon. He was found as a stray horse, wandering around Compton, CA. He was emaciated, had a growth on his genitals, horrible thrush in his back feet, and canker in his front feet.
