UPDATE 2022: Hope and Grace

Hope and Grace are two bonded Arabian mares who came to Hanaeleh when their owner could no longer care for them. The were underweight and clearly in need of some love. After we get them back into better health, Hope and Grace were adopted out for a short time as therapy horses, but the facility where they were living burned down during the Malibu Fire in 2018. Update 2022: Ulysses

It seems like only yesterday that we brought Ulysses home from the Riverside Animal Shelter. Can you believe that this June will be Ulysses' 10th anniversary of being rescued? He is truly a miracle horse. Ulysses had been horribly abused by Charros, only to be dumped in the Riverside CA riverbed, then picked up by Animal Control, only to be slated to be put down the following day. UPDATE 2022: Hershey

Hershey is an Appendix (Quarter horse/Thoroughbred cross) gelding. He came back to Hanaeleh a few years ago when his owner was unable to care for him. He is in his mid-20s, and is now a permanent resident of Hanaeleh. Hershey has navicular, and he has arthritis in his hips, so it is difficult for him to canter sometimes, but we still exercise him regularly. Gypsy is a permanent resident of Hanaeleh. She continues to be the queen of the ranch, even though she lives in the lower paddock. She is a wild Mustang, and Mustangs often only will bond with one person, and that person happens to be Elizabeth.
