This weekend we caught Raven napping for a while on her new shavings. Just like with people, some horses like to nap more than others. Unlike humans, however, horses only need about 45 minutes of REM sleep a night; they can lock their stifle and doze, which is how they get most of the rest they need. Raven naps quite a bit. Congratulations to Sierra and Charlotte!
We are very pleased to announce that our very own board member and volunteer coordinator, Charlotte, has decided to adopt Sierra! Hanaeleh rescued Sierra in August of 2021. Before she came to us, Sierra had been given to a family who had no horse experience. Sierra was very sweet on the ground, but the family quickly realized that the daily work that is required to care for a horse was more than they could handle. Welcome Our Newest Rescues: Jesse and Rylee!
It's been an exciting few weeks at Hanaeleh, as we have one of our horses return, and a new herdmate to welcome at the rescue! Jesse Jesse is a 20 year-old Quarter horse gelding. Jesse is what we call a boomerang horse- he keeps coming back! He has come back now three times- and never though any fault of his own.
