UPDATE 4/17/23: We were able to save the babies! One of our previous board members and supporters has offered to quarantine them for 30 days while we get them vetted and continue to network for new homes for them. The black colt was saved separately, so we only had to take the bay filly and the chestnut colt. Hanaeleh is Still Looking for a Permanent Home
Hanaeleh has been at our current facility for over 13 years now, and we have spent a lot of money into making the property work for us and the horses. We have put a lot of money into the property, putting in solar panels, lights, water pipes, automatic waterers for all horses, sheds, and pipe corrals and shelters for all of the horses. Spring Means Grass for the Horses!
Although the rain has been annoying to say the least, it has come with a lovely side benefit- there is a plethora of fresh grass for the horses to graze on! Things to remember: Spring grass is high in sugar, so it should be fed in limited amounts- usually no more than 20 minutes of grazing per day. Horses who are at risk of founder should have all spring grass clipped around their paddocks so they don't end up foundering.
