Chickens
Hanaeleh has three resident chickens on the property- Samantha (4 years), Ursula (1 year) and Endora (1 year). All three are named after the characters in the television sitcom Bewitched. All three hens are leghorns and do lay eggs. They are very helpful around the ranch, however, as they eat icky bugs that would otherwise get into the grain. Gypsy
Gypsy was a wild Mustang, living in California and Nevada before her family was herded up and thrown into holding pens, then separated from one another. If Gypsy's experience was like most wild horse roundups, several of her fellow herd members, including foals, were killed. Hanaeleh intervened when Gypsy's owner posted her as a "free horse." Zorro
It is with a heavy heart that Hanaeleh has to report that Zorro passed away on Easter morning. Zorro's rescue was a coordination of Hanaeleh, Blue Apple Ranch and Red Bucket Equine Rescue. Red Bucket was contacted when Zorro's owner of 20 years passed away. The brother said that if they did not take him, he was going to sell Zorro to slaughter.
