Sheldon NWR Prepares to Remove Horses, Advocates Prepare Litigation
(Winnemucca, NV) On August 30th, Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge was sent a letter on behalf of Bonnie Kohleriter, a private individual, and Laura Leigh, President of Wild Horse Education, attempting to address serious issues concerning the Refuge’s plan to remove 412 wild horses starting September 9th. Quixote Adult Andalusian/Thoroughbred gelding Rescued July 2013 Quixote is a 16 hand Thoroughbred and Andalusian gelding. He was originally an eventer who jumped around four feet fences. He was used as a lesson horse until he was sold to a family. Unfortunately, the daughter lost interest in horses, and Quixote was not ridden or exercised regularly.
