Teeth Floating (and more)- Part II

It had been a long, hot and dry day out at the barn, but around 4pm the horses had all had their teeth floated. We were tired but happy that things had gone so well, and the horses all seemed to come out of the sedation well and were back in their stalls, waiting for dinner. Every year Hanaeleh's horses get their teeth floated, or filed down, by an equine veterinarian. Even though our horses are fed between three to five times per day, they still don't wear their teeth the same way they would in the wild, and need to have waves and sharp edges filed down before they become bigger issues. Chocolate is a 20 year-old bay 14-hand Quarter horse mare. She was a champion reining horse and is registered with AQHA and National Reining Association, winning many state and local championships in her day. Chocolate is an easy keeper and is barefoot. Food for Thought Grant

Hanaeleh joins other animal protection organizations across the United States, such as the Humane Society of the United States, Best Friends Animal Society, to adopt a compassionate food policy. Due to its formal adoption of a compassionate food policy, Hanaeleh has been awarded a food grant from the Food for Thought campaign.
