Action Alert: Lack of Orange County Equine Evacuation Plan Puts Horses In Jeopardy

Fire season will soon be upon us, and with that will be the potential need to evacuate our horses. Unfortunately, the current Large Animal Response Team (LART), which is based in San Juan Capistrano, has stated that they no longer are able to facilitate any future evacuations anywhere else in OC. San Bernardino, CA: 2 Geldings “Luke” and “Panache” Need a Home

We were contacted by a man who is trying to place his two horses: Luke and Panache. Both are geldings and are in their teens. Luke Luke is a black 17 hand Appendix (Quarter horse/Thoroughbred cross). We were contacted by a woman who owns a 9 year-old bay Thoroughbred mare named Dixie Run. Dixie reared while being ridden, and flipped over, shattering the owner's pelvis. She has a long road to recovery, and is unable to continue to care for Dixie. She is looking to find Dixie a new home, preferably as a companion. Dixie is currently in Norco, CA.
