(Note: The previous owner requested that we redact this post to remove all identifying information, including her name and contact information and the name and registration number of the horse. Hanaeleh does not delete blog posts as we use these as ways to keep track of the horses we have helped to rehome).
We received word from a woman who took a horse a few months ago out of compassion, but cannot keep her because she is moving across the country. She has until September 1st to find her horse a new home. She is not looking to sell her, but is just looking for a good home for her mare. She is NOT at Hanaeleh.
The horse is NOT in California- she is currently located outside of Las Vegas, NV. She is a sorrel registered Quarter horse mare. She was born on March 24, 1996, so she is 24 years old. She comes with her papers and a signed transfer from the breeder.
She was a well-known barrel horse in the area. Except for some normal stiffness due to her age, she is sound and is great with other horses (she is at the bottom of the pecking order). She is used to working with kids. She is very well trained and is very, very sweet. She has uveitis in her right eye and is completely blind on that side, but there is no discharge and she is used to the lack of sight on that side. She is currently barefoot and is doing well. She needs a home where she will be cared for- according to her owner, she is good for complete beginners to handle and ride.
Her previous owners did not care for her after they stopped competing on her, but the current owner has been feeding her properly so she is back to a good weight.
