Jack is a beautiful American Cream Draft who we rescued a few years ago. We adopted him out to a wonderful woman down in San Diego who had a number of draft horses, so she was familiar with his needs. She was beginning a therapy program called BITS Back in the Saddle, and at the time Jack was going to be her family’s personal riding horse and would possibly work as a therapy horse as well.
After about a year and a half with his new owner, Jack is continuing to do well! His nickname is “Handsome Jack” and he is one of the favorite horses in her program.
From his owner:
“He is aging gracefully and still likes to buck and play during turnout. He occasionally is ridden by some of my therapy students as his favorite gait is just to walk or really to just stand there which makes him fabulous for boosting confidence and being a beginning vaulting horse to teach vaulting positions. He really has found his calling and absolutely adores these kids, especially when they give him senior pellets…Lol.”
Jack seems to love the attention, and he gets to work at his favorite gait (stop). We are so happy that he found an owner who is able to work with him and allow him to help others as well!
