UPDATE: Titan’s New Home!

We are so pleased to announce that Titan has been adopted! We had several inquiries on our big boy, but we found a wonderful home with a woman and her family down in San Diego. She has had horses in the past, but wanted a schoolmaster who knew his job and would be good for short rides on trail and in the arena. We told them about his previous injuries, and they were not an issue for what they wanted to do with him. The entire family came out to see Titan, and they immediately fell in love! He seems perfect for what they want to do, and they were so excited to have him! They were exactly the type of family we were hoping to have for him- a family who wanted him for HIM, not a family who settled on him.

I took Titan down Sunday morning- the stable is in Imperial Beach, which is a stone’s throw from the Mexico border. Luckily it was Mother’s Day and there was very little traffic. We hooked up the trailer and brought Titan down the long driveway to the street where we were going to load him up- he was not thrilled about going down the driveway alone, and kept snorthing, but other than that he was fine. He stepped right into the trailer, and then immediately stepped back out. He stepped back in and ate a few bits of hay, and then decided to slowly back out again. We didn’t push him or pull on him, and he wasn’t scared- just not really comfortable. Knowing his past history, we just let him take his time, and he stepped in and stepped out a few more times. He seemed more interested in his hay then, so when he stood and began eating more in earnest, we closed the door behind him, and he was fine.

We drove down to Imperial Beach with very little drama; there was no traffic, and Titan was great during the entire journey. His new owner met us at the entrance to the stable and showed me where to park, and Titan offloaded without issue. He was not stressed from the ride at all, and managed to eat two full hay nets during the trip, so he was definitely busy! We put him in the large quarantine stall where all horses must be kept, and in two weeks he will go to his larger paddock.

I must say I was very impressed with the entire stable, and all of the horses looked beautiful! The horses were in large paddocks and some were turned out together. They were all calm and had plenty of room to move around. If I had the means to have a stable, it would look exactly like this one!

Titan settled right into his stall, and immediately found the hay that was in there. He was not upset about not being around any other horses, did not call, and was calm and happy during the entire time I was there. His family was beyond excited, and I was so glad they adopted him- Titan is going to be so happy with them!
