The mass shooting in Las Vegas on Sunday night has been devastating to our nation. It has hit especially close to the Hanaeleh family as well; Katie, our volunteer coordinator, notified us that her daughter was shot in the head that fateful night.
We are incredibly thankful that Katie’s daughter was not killed, and although her condition is guarded, we’ll probably not know a lot for several weeks. So far, however, Katie and her family remain positive about her prognosis.
We are heartbroken but hopeful for Katie, her daughter, and her entire family. We are also heartbroken for the rest of the nation that is mourning for family members. We ask that you please keep Katie and her daughter – as well as the rest of those victims and their friends and families – in your thoughts during this time.
We understand that there are very strong emotions regarding the issues surrounding this shooting, but we please ask that comments on this particular thread remain positive and focused on Katie and her daughter’s well-being. We are a horse rescue, not a political forum, and more politicized comments are probably best left to discussions on other pages.
Thank you for your understanding. We invite you to take a moment to appreciate all of those who are in your life at this moment, and all of those people like Katie and her daughter who help make our lives better.
