This past August, a 13-year-old gelding horse named Ulysses was found scared and malnourished in a river bed in Riverside County. He was taken in by the Hanaeleh Horse Rescue- Orange County’s only non-profit horse rescue group- where it was decided that he would be best cared for at a retirement center.
Lucky for this horse, he would ultimately be taken under the wing of Santa Margarita’s Equestrian Team. The Eagles decided to adopt Ulysses as their “team horse” and have collected money to help pay for his veterinary bills and future care.
This past weekend, the team set up tent at the Orange County Interscholastic Equestrian League Shows in hopes of raising money for their ‘Ulysses’ Fund.’ Between the team members and those who generously made donations, they raised almost $300 to present to Hanaeleh to help offset the costs of caring for Ulysses!
Way to go Eagles!
