Southern California: We were contacted by a woman who rescued two horses from a kill pen in Bowie, Texas. She has been caring for them, but she is no longer able to afford to care for them.
Both horses are approximately 16 years old. Their names are Isaac and Jacob. Isaac is the taller one. The owner does not know the breed. Isaac is approximately 16.1 and Jacob 15.3. They are current on vaccinations, floating, farrier care and worming. They are both barefoot and seem to be sound without shoes.
The horses did not come to the auction with any history, so the owner isn’t sure how they got there (she was told that they were just dropped off). She has not tried to ride them- she was just focused on getting them safe and healthy- so she is not sure if they are trained to ride or not. They were together in the feedlot, and she purchased both of them, believing them to be a bonded pair, and has allowed them to stay together. She believes that they have been traumatized enough, and would like them to go to a home together if possible unless separating them is the only option for them to go to a safe home.
Isaac and Jacob are currently boarded, and are handled by the grooms at the facility in which they live. They are bathed once a week and groomed daily. There are dogs and various animals on the property which don’t seem to bother them. They need an intermediate to experienced handler, as they are a little shy of new people, but very comfortable with a regular handler.
