We were contacted by a woman who owns a 9 year-old bay Thoroughbred mare named Dixie Run. Dixie reared while being ridden, and flipped over, shattering the owner’s pelvis. She has a long road to recovery, and is unable to continue to care for Dixie. She is looking to find Dixie a new home, preferably as a companion. Dixie is currently in Norco, CA.
Dixie is good with other animals, and currently lives with three goats and a pony. She is relatively easy to handle on the ground, and would be fine for a beginner or intermediate handler. The owner pulled her shoes after the accident as Dixie was not going to be ridden. The owner believes that there is a possibility that Dixie had an injury to her wither before she got her.
Because of her tendency to rear, the owner is trying to find Dixie a home where she can be a companion horse.
The owner said that Dixie’s registered name is: Dixie Run R16175
If you are able to provide Dixie a new home, please fill out our horse referral form. We will forward all inquiries onto the owner. PLEASE SHARE!
