UPDATE 7/6/22- We were notified by the riding center that Maggie Mae has found a new home with an owner in Norco! Thank you to everyone who helped to network this very special girl!
We are helping a therapeutic riding center find a home for a lovely 16 year-old Missouri Fox Trotter mare. Maggie Mae was donated to their center, but her gait is not appropriate for their program, and the people in charge of the center think she would be happier with an individual owner or family instead.
Maggie Mae originally had been used for trail riding, and she would probably be happier as a trail horse rather than arena work. She has some mild arthritis due to her age, and has issues carrying people 280lbs or under, so she would need a lighter rider under 200 lbs. She has a very fast walk which is typical of a Fox Trotter.
The riding center says Maggie Mae needs an intermediate handler. She is up-to-date on all of her vaccinations, farrier and dental care. She is currently barefoot. She does have a fungus on her legs that they have been trying to get rid of, but doesn’t seem to bother her at all.
