Charley-After a few months at Hanaeleh. Charley’s paperwork stayed with him and after some research, we were able to reunite him with his previous owner! This is why paperwork is so important for a horse!

Charley’s owners contacted Hanaeleh, telling us that they would have to put him down because they did not feel that he would survive another winter with them. When Hanaeleh picked him up, we was very emaciated and had bites and cuts all over his body from being beat up by the other horses in the paddock. Charley cribbed, and so the owners had put a muzzle on him to prevent him from cribbing, but that also kept him from eating well. We put a cribbing collar on him and started him on a diet of hay, pellets and some grain. After a few months, he looked wonderful! Charley is a registered Thoroughbred, and was also lucky in that his owners had his papers. When Hanaeleh went through them, we discovered a vet bill that showed he had been owned by Reba McEntire. We contacted her to see if she was interested in taking him, and sure enough she was! Soon he was on a trailer to Florida, where he is retired and living the good life!
