We were contacted by a woman who is trying to help her friend place her two Thoroughbred horses. The owner is older and unable to care for the horses, and additionally has to move out of state to live with relatives. She is heartbroken to have to leave her horses behind. We have reached out to a number of Thoroughbred rescues, but they are either full or have not bothered to respond to our e-mail, so we are seeing if our network of wonderful supporters might be able to help find a home for these horses. If you are interested in helping these two horses, please contact Linda: lteddys@sbcglobal.net or by phone: 661-205-8519.
Neither of the horses were raced but both are registered with the Jockey Club/Thoroughbred Registry. Both had careers as hunter-jumpers. Both horses are up-to-date on all of their vaccinations, teeth floating, farrier care, etc. They are both healthy.
Kuluha- Grey 23 year-old gelding. He is out of I’m a Good girl by Swing til Dawn. He has thin soles (common in TBs) but is sound. He has not been ridden in 15 years when he was originally retired.
Pharnap- Chestnut 28 year-old gelding. He is out of Lyphnap by Lyphard and foaled at Cardiff in Paso Robles. He has high withers (he’s a TB, after all), and has a slight hearing issue due to his age. He is sound but has not been ridden in 15 years when he was originally retired.
The horses are currently stabled at Silver Bell Barn, but the owner can no longer afford to pay for them. She spends 2-3 hours a day with them, and this is difficult for her, but she just cannot take them with her, and she is hoping there will be someone who will want two very sweet horses. The horses currently live in large turnout together in the corner of a larger pasture.
These horses are NOT at Hanaeleh. If you are interested in helping these two horses, please contact Linda: lteddys@sbcglobal.net or by phone: 661-205-8519.
